The point here is that people who think they are talking to Jesus/Allah/Zeus or any other mythological character when they pray are deluded.

The alternative is to stop listening to people who are obviously deluded or are making shit up as if they have meaningful answers to these questions.

We are here because we are here. My recommendation as far as “what we’re to be doing” is to worry less about “ultimate meaning” and focus more on proximate meanings that work for you and those around you.
